GIVING

Giving to Journey Church Ventura is supporting the mission to enter the journeys of those who have yet to discover God’s love, grace and forgiveness, while growing together in a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Each dollar given is prayerfully and carefully used to support Journey Church Ventura and its ministries. Thank you for your generosity.

There are two measurements the Bible uses for giving:

03

THE TITHE

Tithe, which is an old word meaning “1/10th,” is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income that is to be given back to God through the local church. This idea of giving the first 10% is taught throughout the entire Bible.

When we give our tithe, we express worship in a real and tangible way by showing God that He is first in our lives. We demonstrate our trust in His ability to provide and care for us, allowing us to be part of a story so much bigger than any one of us.

You can find more about this idea of tithing by reading these passages from the Bible. Check out

Leviticus 27:30Proverbs 3:9-10Malachi 3:6-10Matthew 6:19-24 and 1 Corinthians 16:1-2.

04

The bible says, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly orunder compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so thatin all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

The New International Version. (2011). (2 Co 9:6–8). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.

The bible does not define the amount of our generosity, but encourages us to prayerfully give according to our desire to be generous and cheerful.  It also suggests that we will reap what is sown.  That will be the measure of the blessing.  God bless you as you prayerfully consider the measure of your generosity.
